Residential Construction
Frequently Asked Questions

Do you custom-build homes?
Yes! Whether you bring us a plan and want us to update it, or whether you want us to assist you in designing a custom plan, we will gladly help you create a home that is uniquely yours. We will also take a standard plan and customize it according to your needs or desires.

What's the standard time frame for building a house?
The time frame can vary depending upon the time of year in which you build. But, barring severe weather conditions or events considered "acts of God," the average time for building a house is 5 to 6 months.

Why haven't you switched to vinyl windows?
Although vinyl windows may be less expensive, we prefer the look, feel, energy efficiency, and overall cost-effectiveness of traditional wood windows.

What is the standard heating and cooling setup for a new home?
Brester Construction installs high efficiency heat pump systems in the majority of our new homes because of the 30-50% year-round heating and cooling savings they provide. In addition Brester uses heat pumps exceeding minimum energy efficiency requirements.

How long is your warranty?
Brester Construction offers a one-year warranty from the closing date on all its new homes. We make every effort to accommodate any concerns a buyer may have during that period. This warranty, however, does not transfer to a second buyer if the home is resold during the one-year warranty period.

What are your allowances on your homes?
Clients are always pleased to learn that, because of our positive relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, Brester Construction can offer generous allowances (for carpeting, light fixtures, tile, etc.).

What is your lot availability?
Because of the number of homes we build and our long-term relationships with land developers, Brester Construction has a variety of lots in numerous locations and at prices to fit any budget.

How do I get started on building a home?
The first step of the home-building process entails determining the home's location, the budget, and the needs of the client. To get started today, call us at 402-423-2337.
